It's been a while since I've blogged. New Year- new start, that's how it goes right?
Finished piecing my 100 Blocks quilt but it still needs to be bound. It's on the list to bind along with about three other quilts. Along with make 13 quilts this year I also made a baby :) Lena Louise was born 1.6.17 and she makes a great quilt model.
Norway Quilt bound just in time to use last winter. I'm currently snuggling under it right now. Pattern is by Thimble Blossom but I just enlarged one block and made it the whole quilt.
Kristen Olsen from @heartfullyhandmade hosted a Bonnie and Camille Log Cabin Block swap that I participated in. It was so fun to get block from everyone and make a super scrappy B&C quilt. I love it.
@thimbleblossom hosted a Colorway quiltalong in 2016. I finally bound this up this year and it is making a great edition in Moses room on his bunk beds. It compliments his whale quilt perfectly.
I began pattern testing for @thencamejune this year. This is her Diamond Ripples quilt. I made it for Lena's baby quilt.
@ThencameJune had another pattern I tested in the summer. It was her Dusk to Dawn Quilt made out of half square rectangles. It was my first time doing HSR and I really liked the outcome. My middle sister Brittan got married in September and this was a wedding gift for her and Dave.
The last quilt I tested for @ThencameJune this year was her City Grid Quilt- releasing today! This is a super neutral quilt using Cotton and Steel Basics. It looks tedious to complete but really her construction was phenomenal and I could nest all of my seams so no need to pin! WooHoo! I need to quilt this one up here quick and hopefully sell it in the Etsy shop this winter 2018!
I also opened an Etsy shop in November. I haven't promoted it much at all but I did sell one quilt! WooHoo! It was sent to a friend Danielle who is expecting their 3rd child shortly and they don't know the gender yet. This amish inspired bow tie quilt was a perfect neutral quilt for their nursery.
I also began pattern testing for @quiltylove and tried out her new pattern Cross Roads Quilt. I used all Bonnie and Camille Solids for this quilt. It too is listed in my Etsy shop.
Emily Dennis from @quiltylove came out with this Plus and Minus quilt in November. I used my mini floral fabrics to make this up. It's a baby size quilt and is waiting to be quilted and bound. Then it too will go into my Etsy shop.
@Crazymomquilts came out with the Show and Tell bag pattern. This is the jumbo size and it can hold 3 full size quilts easily. I use the pink and aqua one when we go to the library's on Sunday night to sew. It's great for toting around all my supplies. I gifted this red and blue one to Vicki this summer. She's just about to retire and then her and I are going to open a quilt shop- she just needs to be fully talked into this still ;)
That Kristen @heartfullyhandmade was at it again with another swap. This time we did @bonniecottonway Spools pattern. This quilt lives in my sewing room and when Moses wakes up from his nap he comes and snuggles in it while I sew just a bit longer :)
I made one of the Poolside Totes in 2016 and loved it so much I made two more. The Blue checked one went to a friend, Susie. And I kept the solid blue one as an addition to my summer time accessories. I love this pattern by @noodlehead531 it works so well as a purse/diaper bag!
@gnomeangel hosted a sew along for Jen Kingwell's pattern Long Time Gone. This is a sampler quilt- which I love a good sampler pattern, and was so SO fun to make. Probably my favorite all time quilt so far! It is quilted but needs to be bound still. This quilt has over 3000 pieces in it!
I pulled out my baby models for this 2x4 quilt. I used @filminthefridge pattern to complete this quilt. I gifted this to my cousin KC who had just had her second baby girl Stella!
@Dairyofaquilter has a pattern that is so easy and fun to make! Holiday Patchwork Forest was made from Cotton and Steel Christmas lines and a few solids mixed in. I got all of the fabrics from Stitch Supply Co an AMAZING quilt shop and retreat center. This is where I attend retreats in March and October.
While I was at the retreat in October we did a mini swap. I made these minis for @jackiepadeskyquilts and @toomanycrafts
I also made this Amish Red and White Quilt while I was at the retreat too. My Mother in Law has been requesting a double Irish chain quilt for at least a few years. I finally came through this christmas and finished it up. I had to have a few quilts under my belt before a gifted something to my MIL as she too is a fantastic sewer.
A Fall quilt was on my to make list in 2017. @cluckclucksew made this adorable Pumpkin quilt pattern and I really wanted one for myself. I love the patchwork style of these pumpkins. The fall backdrop in our neighbors yard worked so well for this photo.
One for quilt for the Etsy shop; I called it LindsayQuiltCo by the way. This plus quilt was a fun make from a charm pack. I used a free tutorial on @southernfabric blog.
Pieced but waiting to be quilted is this House and Pineapple block quilt. Another quilt along brought me all these blocks. @jackiepadeskyquilts and @toomanycrafts hosted a Pineapple Block swap and @heartfullyhandmade hosted a Dwell Block swap- pattern by @thimbleblossoms. I had so many of these blocks but really didn't think I needed two more quilts so I combined them into one very hospitable and welcoming House/Pineapple quilt. I think the two blocks worked well together. This will be a great spring time/summer quilt....once it's bound.
2017 was a fun year. I had a lot of great WIPs I finished and a few more that are going into 2018 with me. I'm looking forward to expanding my skills this year, experimenting with selling a few quilts and continuing this fun hobby I've grown to love. Happy New Year!
